(of writing)...SO fell to the wayside when a friend rang me up today to go out to lunch and a movie. Then, to make matters even worse (better...yeah, definitely better (g)), she was in the mood to go BOOK shopping.
I was so there. (g)
Anyway, we saw Iron Man, which was actually quite entertaining. I enjoyed it, and it's nice to see Robert Downey, Jr. back on his game. Then we headed over to B&N to see some friends. By that, I mean I picked up their books. (VBG)
Today's take:
THE TOUCH OF TWILIGHT by Vicki Pettersson (Yay, Vicki!)
DEATH BY BIKINI by Linda Gerber (Yay, Linda!)
THE GOLDEN COMPASS by Philip Pullman
FALLING by Christopher Pike (Who the heck knew he wrote adult books? I had to buy this as a matter of respect for the author whose books filled up MANY hours when I was a teenager. I love how one of the cover blurbs describes it as "literary crack cocaine." LOL)
OH...and I got such an itch to pick up Stephen King's Dark Towers series... So yeah, I have to dig them out. I haven't read any of them, but have somehow amassed close to the entire series. They're in storage...probably the bottom box of a HIGH stack...blurgh. That'll be fun. I should've bought them instead. (g)
Now that I've had Jen-time, it's time to let my characters come out to play.
Oh, and I tried to find another John Green novel...alas, nada. Also, I'm looking for recommendations of good mysery authors/series. Any suggestions?
REMINDER: Only another 24 hours, 18 minutes to sign up to win a free copy of Carol Spradling's debut novel, COST OF FREEDOM! Don't miss out!

I hate to bring up an oldie - but have you read Sidney Sheldon's books?
I also enjoyed Sue Grafton's work until Janet Evanovich ruined me for the spunky-chick-mystery genre. (g)
John Green has a new book out - Paper Towns, I believe. I haven't picked it up yet - still in Vicki's book.
I DO need to get Linda's though. I'll have to go to church tomorrow...(g)
Tara,
Oh, I thought Paper Towns was coming out in late 2008. I'll have to look for it. I'll have to do a big mail order (church take-out).
Sidney Sheldon just sounds old. LOL. Like it might be about nasty Hollywood wives or something. (g) (I may *gulp* check out a few authors at the library before committing to the full buy.) And yeah, I tried one of Sue Grafton's -- T, I think, which probably negated my ability to get into it. I tried it after discovering Evanovich, too... two strikes. LOL.
Thanks for the suggestions...adding them to the list. (g) Have fun at church! Oh man, I can never get out without making a huge donation to the plate. (VBG)
Jen
You may be right about Paper Towns - I thought I saw something on his blog about it being out, but I'm brain-dead. (g)
Please tell me you've heard of Sidney Sheldon! If you want a good one to start with, read "If Tomorrow Comes" - his best, in my opinion.
Somebody-Collins writes about nasty Hollywood wives - I would avoid her! (g)
Now that I have a membership card, I'm making regular donations to the plate...
Tara,
LOL -- I'll put him on the list. (g)
And yeah -- same here. As soon as I had that little card in my hand, I rationalized every buy by saying I would save 10%. SNRK. Wait until they start sending you enticing little coupons to get you to buy online. The first month or so, I received several...save 10 dollars on a 40 dollar purchase simply by paying with your PAYPAL account... Save 40% on ONE item (which ticks me off, btw. After a few buys with these, they dropped me down to 25% and NOW 15%. Clearly they know they have me indoctrinated.) Have they gotten to you yet??
Jen
Tara,
P.S. I just added Maureen Johnson as a friend on Facebook -- and she confirmed. Teehee. I'm such a super-fan, geek.
Jen
OH YEAH. They got me. Can't say that I'm too depressed over it. Much to my husband's dismay! (g)
MJ is on Facebook?? On my way...
~Fellow Super-fan-Geek
(giggle) Added MJ!
Sometimes, I feel like a 5 year old!
Tara,
John Green and Katherine Green are over there, too...trying to work up the courage to add. Heh. No Hank, tho...so disappointing. (OH..and Scott Westerfeld and a host of the other YA authors from the mansion)
Jen (who hopes she can move in someday)
I saw John Green. I'm a little nervous to add him, too!
I have NO doubt you'll be invited to the mansion - you may have to move out of the midwest first, though. (g)
Tara,
I'm gonna say the heck with it and add him... Viva la Brotherhood 2.0. (g)
And heck, I'm willing to make that move -- even for just a one-night stay. LOL.
Jen
LOL - You go!
Tara,
Oh wait, oh wait. I found Hank and friended him...will see what happens. (g) Now to work up the courage for Scott Westerfeld.
Jen
Wait...wait! I'm trying to keep up!
I added John Green - where is Hank?
LOL.
Tara,
I found him listed under John's friends.
Jen
Tara,
We're both SUCH geeks, btw. (g)
Jen
Yep, we sure are! LOL
