It's All Your Fault, John Green!

I hope I'm not alone in this little...ritual of mine. It's a new one, granted, born out of many frustrated trips out of town. Nonetheless, it's kinda weird.

Have you ever been caught out of town with a book you just cannot get into? It's happened to me MANY times, unfortunately, so I've developed this little "system" of making sure I have something suitable and for which I'm in the mood. If I'm not currently reading a book, I choose 2-3 to take with...and, if I have the time, I will read the first chapter of each to see if they pique my interest. Yeah...

That's what I tried to do last night with John Green's LOOKING FOR ALASKA. It was late...around 2 am...I have to leave this morning at 730...I still need to pack and finish a few other to-do's... I read the first chapter...interesting...keep going...page 40... oh this is too good, I'll read another half hour... page 100...150...180...well, why stop now?? I finish ALL of it. Thank God it was only 220 pages. ROFL. I turned out my lights to hit the hay at about 545...and well, my alarm was set for an hour later.

DAMN. YOU. JOHN. GREEN.

Not only will I be completely dead by time I reach my cousin's wedding shower, but I'm in the same boat I started out in. I don't have a book to read.

DAMN YOU!!!

Gah, yeah...and thanks. Thanks for writing a damn good book. :)

(I'll review it...that is IF I survive today (g))

P.S. Jenna -- I finished THE HOST yesterday. Girl, we need to talk. (g) Loved it!

Yes! I do the same thing! Imagine if I only brought one book with me and then had *nothing* to read? Shudder! Hmm, John Green, eh? I'll have to go look it up...

LOL! I did the same thing!

Deniz,

Oh yes, I'd look for his books. (g) His sense of humor is fantastic and he definitely brings it to his characters. :)

So glad to hear I'm not the only one who does this! LOL.

Tara,

No spoilers allowed, but once I reached "after" there was NO putting it down. (g)

I was wondering if his books were any good. Considering the sense of humor he shows in his videos I figured he'd have to be an entertaining writer. I must look him up.

And yes, dearie, we must converse on our love for "The Host." *sighs* I'm going to have to read it again now lol.

Awright. Maybe it's having kids and feeling like everybody ELSE decides how much I sleep, or maybe I'm just tired. Or maybe even...lazy. But up all night reading? ALL NIGHT? Not me, babe. (snore)

Where'dja learn that, anyway? Law school? (G) More importantly, can you teach me how? Because if I don't sleep I'm a right...not-nice lady. Danged unpleasant, actually.

Cindy,

The same can be said about me. (g) And really, it wasn't _my_ decision. I blame John Green completely. LOL.

I was EXHAUSTED and ended up sleeping during the car ride and THEN taking a short nap at my grandparents' house. I was somewhat awake by time the shower started, but man, I couldn't wait to get to bed that night. :) I'm definitely too old for these all-nighters. I remember when I could stay up several nights in a row, with an hour sleep here and there. Nope. Nuh-uh. Not anymore. My body makes me PAY. (g)

Jenna,

Well, this is a hard-hitting book, but man, there were some genuine laugh out loud moments, too. I'm definitely putting his other two books on my to-buy list. The funniest thing is that he included the tee-ball story, sans the "allstar in our hearts" bit. LMAO. I love that. (g)

And yes...we must discuss THE HOST. I'll beep you if I'm around tonight.
